What are the biggest hairstyle trends we expect for 2018? It’s looking like short hair is making a come back. We all know past years, the man bun was a huge uproar. I would say even today, people are rocking the long hair proudly. What about those of us who want to rock the short hair though? Joe lists out his top 5 hairstyle trends for 2018, starting with…
The French Crop
Joe feels that the Crop is going to make its impact in 2018 as a big hairstyle trend. We see a lot of celebrities already starting the trend – notably Zayn Malik.
The french crop is for those who don’t want to deal with all the pre-styling, brushing, and blowdrying. The traditional crop didn’t require any product, however we are seeing a lot more texturized fringe styles that give it that new modern edge.
It’s quite awesome to see that people are starting to be more creative about their hair. Joe adds by saying one could add some coloring into the hair as well. He could see people doing highlights or colored tips that can really elevate the style.
Speaking of coloring. It really started with people dying their hair blonde or platinum. We see a spark of people with this complete color change and now instead of blonde, we see blue or green. I personally feel that this has started a wave of expression through hair color.
Gone are the days where hair color meant you were queer or weird. Now everyone is experimenting and admiring how cool color can be. Joe personally has been thinking about color and he likes to stay with highlights that are a bit darker because of his natural hair color. But we’re in 2018, new year new Joe right? So should Joe dye his hair blonde/platinum? Let him know how you feel on his videos!
My advice, if you’re looking to start off with color, start small. The last thing you want is to regret dying your hair pink just because you saw someone else do it. Referencing back to the Joe example, start off with highlights and ease yourself into how you look with color. Then if you find yourself comfortable, think about taking it further.
Four Inches of Goodness (I’m talking about Hair)
Joe gives some great insight on the length that he finds works for a great hairstyle. Four inches of hair on the top seems to be a gold standard for Joe.
Let’s get more specific, Joe feels that the messy look is continuing its place as a big trend because more and more of us want that messy and controlled look. This hairstyle shows that you may look messy but in reality, you’re well put together.
The versatility is what makes the length of four inches so great. It’s easy to keep it more cleaned up and professional. At the same time if you’re not feeling the professional look, simply play with your hair and it will still look great.
You have lots of options with this length and all those options are yours to choose from!
Modern Slick Back
Joe believes that this is one of those classics that resonates well with many people. It’s that put together look that shows others you can play but also get down to business.
It requires a bit more maintenance but it’s worth it. For those of us that don’t want a greaser slick back, this is the hairstyle for us.
We don’t focus too much on the buzz cut because It’s a very simple style. There’s only one way to rock a buzz cut and it depends a lot on face shape as well. There’s nothing wrong about a buzz cut but to Joe, he feels that if you have great hair why not show it off?
In the fashion industry the buzz cut has been taking over the scene. Especially those who have the face shape for it, they pull it off really well. The Buzz cut shows confidence and gives off a manly type vibe.
Joe mentions that the buzz cut gives you a fresh start. If you’re dealing with damaged hair, sometimes starting back from ground zero is a better solution.
We see celebrities like Brad Pitt, Zayn Malik and Justin Timberlake completely pull off the style. We put it on the trend list because It’s definitely creating a lot of buzz. (pun intended)
